The headscarf, or hijab, is a symbol of Islam. It’s mentioned in the Quran that women should cover, and women have many different ways of doing so. Many governments in the Islamic parts of the world have incorporated that into law.
While some countries enforce the wearing of a headscarf by law, others do not – but the way hijabi women carry themselves has changed over time, as seen by the Mipsterz in the “Somewhere in America” video.
But it’s not just the Mipsterz.
According to an article called “Muslims and Fashion: Hijab Couture” from The Economist’s website, women around the world are embracing a new style of wearing headscarves, and wearing them to cover and to show a sense of style.
